Taking time to enjoy exploring our natural world gently awakens the wildness we all have inside. Remember rock pooling as a child? Poking this, sniffing that, looking under rocks, running fingers over every surface. Using all our senses to investigate the world inquisitively is something we seem to have forgotten to make time for.

Today I revisited a very beautiful, very tiny, rocky beach that nestles at the foot of a cliff not far from where I live. For obvious reasons, I call it Speckled Limpet Cove.#

It's a little bit tricky to get to, but that's part of what makes it so special. You can almost guarantee that you'll be alone.

At first it appears quite grey and a little unwelcoming, but once you allow yourself to slowly look around you realise it is bursting with colour and life.

Next time you find yourself at the beach try to identify the creatures stuck fast to the boulders. Lift stones to see what lies beneath. Spend time watching the rock pools. How many different seaweeds can you find?
