HABITAT GROUP

On a warm summer evening, squeezed onto a bench in a crowded farmyard watching a film about bees, was the moment I knew I’d found my tribe.

The Habitat Group began with a small group of like minded people sharing a similar postcode and a passion for nature. At first we just hoped to encourage other people to make their gardens a little more wildlife friendly, to inspire folk to stop using weed killer and take part in No Mow May.

Just a few years on and now fifty members strong, the group has become a catalyst for environmental change. We connect people and organisations, share knowledge, exchange ideas and above all promote initiatives to make a positive impact on our local environment. Our members are involved in all sorts of projects from wildlife reintroductions and rewilding to river conservation and mapping our area to promote connectivity between landowners. We have even created a Gardening for Wildlife booklet that has been distributed throughout the local parishes and towns.
