FIND YOUR TRIBE
Creating a connection with like minded people makes you feel part of a community. It can inspire interesting conversation and encourage positive action.
I’m not usually the sort of person to start a conversation with a stranger, so when I found myself approaching a group of people peering through their binoculars into a reed bed, I was quite surprised to hear myself ask them what they were looking at. Some time later and with a new understanding of the migratory habits of the night heron, I continued on my way. Then came the slow realisation that I may have found my tribe.
Whether through social media, a local group or just meeting fellow enthusiasts while out on a walk, connecting with like minded people is a great way to share experience and knowledge. Hearing about other people’s passion for nature can also be really inspiring and motivate you to explore and discover more. Who knows, opportunities might even arise for you to work together or collaborate on a wildlife project.
You can find local interest groups through social media or the internet. Volunteering with wildlife organisations is also a great way to meet like minded people. You can find some useful organisations to connect with here.
